Dogs and the Dog Creche

Dogs are always a popular attraction at the GWCT Scottish Game Fair. As well as terrier racing in the main ring there are gundog demonstrations, competitions and the scurry which is open to everyone (and their dog). Dog poo bags are available around the site, kindly provided by Perth and Kinross Council.

Dogs are welcome at the Fair and if you would like to leave your dog for a while in safe surroundings, please make use of our Dog Creche which is situated by the Main Entrance. Use of the Creche is free but a donation to the charity providing the service, Samsalin Dog Rescue, would be much appreciated. Please note, dogs…

  • must NOT be left in your car
  • must be kept on a lead
  • must be under proper control at all times
  • must be cleaned up behind where necessary!
  • cannot be taken into the Food Hall or Food Theatre
  • cannot be taken into catering marquees

There is also an extensive range of merchandise for your four-legged friends. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteer on-call vets during the GWCT Scottish Game Fair.

Security

In light of previous terrorist incidents in the UK, the Scottish Game Fair event organisers have, in partnership with Police Scotland, reviewed security measures for the event.

As a consequence, and to ensure the integrity of the site and the safety of the event’s visitors, having taken the advice of the Police, a number of additional security measures are to be adopted, including the potential for security bag checks being conducted.

The event organisers would also ask for your vigilance and should you see anything of a suspicious nature, please inform Site Security Staff. Visitors can also assist by not leaving any bags or items unattended which may cause suspicion.

If an incident does occur, please stay calm, listen to instructions from Scottish Game Fair Staff and general public announcements. Emergency Plans are in place to keep everyone safe.

Your co-operation to ensure that the Scottish Game Fair remains a safe and enjoyable event is truly appreciated, and we hope that you have a wonderful visit to what promises to be another exciting and dynamic Scottish Game Fair.

Bruce Russell, GWCT Director (Scotland)
