Look around at the beautiful landscape of Scotland surrounding Scone Palace. It appears completely natural but actually retains much of its beauty due to active land management and conservation principles based on solid science.
Without keepers, land managers and conservationists doing vital work, the vistas of Scotland would look very different.
The GWCT plays a key role in this, promoting game and wildlife management as part of nature conservation, whilst working with the shooting and hunting community. The charity employs many scientists and runs over 60 research projects, many in collaboration with universities supporting PhD students. (You can review GWCT science papers here, covering everything from predator control to survival of Atlantic salmon.)
Financing conservation
The GWCT Scottish Game Fair is sponsored by Waverton, an investment management company that recognises its responsibility to help drive positive environmental and social change. (For example, it is thanks to Waverton that GWCT supporters are benefitting from complimentary entry to the Fair.)
Many Waverton clients are keen to invest responsibly in holdings that support conservation and the environment. For example, the Real Assets Fund, Greencoat UK Wind, owns ~50 operational wind farms across the UK. Since listing, the Group’s operating wind farms have produced 18.8TWh of clean energy, saving 7.4 million tonnes of CO2.

An alternative renewable wind energy farm
Forty per cent of Greencoat’s wind farms are located in Scotland, with the majority in Ayrshire and the Highlands. Local Scottish landowners and farmers lease land to Greencoat UK Wind and generate an income, benefitting the local economy.
The partnership between Waverton and the GWCT emphasises the common dedication to responsible stewardship and sustainability the two share. Waverton is an ongoing supporter of the GWCT Scottish Game Fair and welcomes members to its stand at the show every year. The company has offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London.

This event is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the beauty of the Scottish countryside and to promote responsible conservation practices. We believe that it is important to support organisations like the GWCT that are dedicated to preserving our natural environment and rural heritage for future generations.”
Stable Events’ managing director, James Gower, adds: “We are grateful to Waverton for their generous sponsorship of complimentary entry to The GWCT Scottish Game Fair for supporters of the GWCT. This will help to highlight the vital work carried out by the charity in promoting sustainable countryside management and conservation and allow its supporters to enjoy a top notch weekend of attractions and activities. We look forward to welcoming GWCT supporters to the event and sharing our passion for the Scottish countryside with them.”
