How the renowned kennel will showcase dual-purpose training at Scone Palace

Mordor Gundogs returns to the GWCT Scottish Game Fair for its 16th year, showcasing all things gundog. Founded in 2003 by Charlie Thorburn, the kennel has evolved from a local enterprise into an internationally recognised training centre, with dogs in 35 countries and 37 US states, alongside a popular YouTube channel featuring a wide range of training videos.

At the heart of the Mordor philosophy is the development of the “dual-purpose” dog — dogs that can play with the kids, lounge in front of the fire and join family walks Monday to Friday, and then go on to perform in the shooting field on Saturday.

Visitors to Scone Palace will see this training philosophy in action during the main arena demonstrations, where the team will showcase the journey from a 10-week-old puppy through to a fully trained gundog. The demonstrations will feature more than 15 labradors, springer spaniels and cocker spaniels of varying ages and stages of training.

In addition to the Main Arena action, Mordor will also host the interactive Puppy Corner.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet a selection of labrador and spaniel puppies at the stand in the World of Gundogs, where the Mordor team will be on hand throughout the event to answer any dog-related questions.
