Fly casting lessons: single-handed and Spey casting
Twenty minute casting lessons will be available for both single-handed and double-handed Spey casting on the banks of the river Tay for both total beginners who want to start fly fishing and advanced anglers who want to gain the benefit of a session with a fully qualified instructor. The charge is £5 for the lesson.
We can cover all aspects of single-handed casting instruction. For double-handed instruction we can provide tuition in all forms of Spey, Traditional, Skagit and Scandi style casting. If you have always wondered what these styles are then, we can give you the knowledge. Come and see one of our instructors who will be able to demonstrate and discuss the various styles and where they are best used. Including how to set up your rod to maximise the casts.
If you propose to enter any of the competitions why not take a short lesson beforehand to check your style and prepare.
Children’s casting: There will also be an opportunity for the under 12’s to try their hand with Orvis indoor practice rods casting into hoops and who knows, there may well be a prize to be won. Prizes for the junior casting competition will be sponsored each day by Fish Pal.
Instructors are all qualified by the major casting bodies in the UK i.e. Game Angling Instructors Association (GAIA). Scottish Game Angling Association (SGAIC) and Fly Fishing International Certified Instructor (FFI)
