Act now to protect hunting in Scotland

,

The Scottish Government is currently consulting on the ‘Use of dogs to control foxes and other wild mammals’ and your views are important.

The consultation contains a number of proposals, including one that will introduce a two-dog limit but also a possible licensing scheme for the use of more than two dogs, as well as a pre-emptive ban on trail hunting.

A spokesman for the Countryside Alliance said: “The consequences of these proposals are extremely serious for farmers, land managers and all those responsible for the management of pest species in Scotland, as well as the welfare of the livestock and wildlife which that management helps protect.

“This consultation is not about the welfare of a fox. It is a direct attempt to ban hunting completely by those who don’t like to see effective control of foxes.”
